Using Ozempic for weight loss can be effective treatment to stabilize hunger and satiety signals, balance blood sugar, and support weight loss, especially in those who have tried many typical weight loss strategies and are active but have not seen results. To be clear, Ozempic is not approved or marketed as a weight loss drug, it is being used “off label” to help people achieve weight loss, because it is helping to create the conditions in the body that are required for weight loss.
It’s becoming increasingly uncommon that I meet someone who hasn’t heard something about using Ozempic for weight loss in the past year given the amount of media attention that has been given to Ozempic recently. Since 2022, I’ve gained significant experience working with men and women who were interested in using Ozempic for weight loss, and amongst other health benefits that can be experienced with a GLP-1 peptide like Ozempic, or semaglutide. And overall, I am very impressed with the effects and patient results that I have witnessed when using Ozempic for weight loss, and an overwhelming majority of my patients have been as well. In fact, many of them are tremendously grateful for the change that Ozempic has helped to create in their lives.
If you are not yet familiar with using Ozempic for weight loss, here are some highlights:
Semaglutide, or Ozempic, is a Health Canada approved medication for type 2 diabetics who also need weight loss. It is a molecule that is very similar to the GLP-1 protein that our own bodies naturally produce in our intestines. GLP-1 and semaglutide/Ozempic cause a decrease in blood sugar and appetite. Studies have found that semaglutide/Ozempic causes significant weight loss compared to just diet alone. Another word for protein is a peptide, which makes Ozempic a form of peptide therapy, as Ozempic is just a synthesized version of the GLP-1 peptide, which gets made naturally in your body.
GLP-1 Peptide Assisted Weight Loss is changing lives, and to date, there is nothing that seems comparable in the supplement or pharmaceutical world that is helping patients achieve the results they are receiving from using Ozempic for weight loss when used in combination with diet and exercise. In addition, there are significant improvements in cardiovascular and metabolic health that may save lives and is actually reversing disease.
How Do You Use Ozempic For Weight Loss
Most will notice an immediate decrease in hunger and cravings, less emotional eating and binge eating, and more satiety. Weight loss is targeted at a rate of 1-3 lbs per week and works even for those who have a history of frequent or repeat dieting, weight loss resistance, difficulty maintaining weight loss, sugar and carb cravings, peri-menopausal or post-menopausal weight gain, and poor blood sugar control.
Most use Ozempic for weight loss until their goal weight is achieved. Some continue to use Ozempic for weight loss maintenance for several months after reaching their goal weight
There are a few other GLP-1 peptides that are available and soon-to-be available:
Mounjaro/tirazepide – this is also a GLP-1 peptide, but it also combines the GIP peptide. The studies for this peptide are even more promising than with Ozempic for weight loss. And, it is finally available in Canada.
Wegovy – This is the exact same peptide as Ozempic, but it is specifically approved for weight loss (and not just for type 2 diabetics). This is not yet available in Canada.
Saxenda/liraglutide – This is a daily injection of liraglude, a GLP-1 agonist approved for weight loss (and not for type 2 diabetes). So, it can be used similarly to Ozempic for weight loss, but it is taken daily instead of once per week.
Rylbelsus/semaglutide – This is an oral version of semaglutide and is taken as a tablet once per day, so it can be used just like Ozempic for weight loss.
Given the recent shortages of Ozempic, many are choosing to use a “generic” version of Ozempic, which is a compounded version of the peptide semaglutide mixed with vitamin B6.
